New England district bans clown costumes after string of creepy clown sightings
NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Amid reports across the country of creepy clown sightings, one Connecticut district is banning clown costumes and other so-called "symbols of terror" as Halloween draws near.
Reports that were unconfirmed by police led to dozens of University of Connecticut students armed with baseball bats and other weapons to converge on the campus cemetery, reports People.com
New Haven Public School District officials made the announcement of the ban Monday, citing principals and building leaders who asked that clown costumes be prohibited until more information about the situation becomes available, The Associated Press reported.
Police are also looking into Instagram accounts that may be fueling the panic over clowns.
Creepy clowns have been reported in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Georgia, Maryland, and Oregon.
