A court ruling found that Shawn Bernier was fired from his job as the New Durham police chief without cause.

Bernier was fired in July 2015 - a decision that upset many in the community that resulted in a petition to get him back on the force.

Attorney Michael Ramsdell who represents Bernier says he will get back pay for his time off, if all goes well.

An order requires both sides work to get Bernier back to work in an orderly fashion, where Ramsdell hopes that means it'll be just a matter of days.
