Negotiations between Portsmouth Toyota owner and councilors over land end
PORTSMOUTH — Negotiations between Portsmouth Toyota owner James Boyle and city councilors have allegedly ended.
The City Council voted 5-2 to take 4.6 acres of land by eminent domain from Boyle's dealership back in September. The City Council then voted to appropriate $345,000 to pay for the eminent domain taking in October.
Boyle met with members of the council several times in over to try and strike a deal to avoid the city from taking the 4.6 acres, according to Seacoastonline.
Boyle told Seacoastonline that the negotiations have ended and that attempts to strike a deal failed. It ended up coming down to what the city would offer for the land.
The dealership allegedly has 30 days to accept an offer, which Boyle claims they will not accept the price laid out.
