Backlash for woman after she relates Hobby Lobby cotton sales to slavery
TEXAS — A woman is facing backlash on social media after she posted to Hobby Lobby's Facebook page last week, requesting the arts and crafts chain remove a raw cotton plant from their stores, claiming they are profiting from slave labor.
Daniell Rider, who's post said she was in Kileen, Texas, sent the post to the store Thursday. Since then, her post has been shared more than 20,000 times as of Tuesday night.
Some people defended Rider, but a majority of the more than 200,000 commenters said they are on Hobby Lobby's side.
Hobby Lobby sells a variety of cotton decorations. As of Tuesday, the stems in this photo are still availble for purchase on the store's website.
