Nathan's hot dog eating contest semifinals held in Rochester
ROCHESTER – Hot dog lovers will compete Saturday in the Granite State for a chance to qualify in the annual Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest in Coney Island.
The contest will take place at the Phantom BBQ and Music Festival on June 27 at the Rochester Fairgrounds at 1:30 p.m.
According to Fosters.com, Nathan’s Famous, Inc. chose Rochester as host city for the qualifier contest back in March.
The man and woman who can eat the most hot dogs will move on to the finals next week in New York at the original Nathan’s Famous site.
The two NH winners that move on to next week’s finals will face some tough competition.
Joey Chestnut, the winner for the past nine years, is returning to the competition again this year. He holds the world record for eating 69 hot dogs and buns in 10 minutes.
Miki Sudo ate 34 hot dogs and buns last year, taking the 2014 women’s championship.
