Nashua woman charged with stealing patient's jewelry

MERRIMACK — A Nashua woman was arrested Wednesday for allegedly stealing jewelry from several people, including items belonging to the wife of an elderly patient she was caring for in Merrimack.

Merrimack police said that 24-year-old Charlotte Torres was charged with a felony count of theft and will be held on a $10,000 cash bail.

Victims said they became suspicious after Torres, who works for an in-home care provider, was in an area of a residence she was not supposed to be while caring for the elderly patient. They told police that several days later, a significant amount of jewelry was discovered missing from their deceased mother's collection.

Investigators said Torres had pawned the items, but that they did recover some of the jewelry, including a diamond wedding ring and band at two separate gold buyers in Nashua.
