Nashua teacher arrested for soliciting nude photos, sex from students on Grindr
NASHUA - A Nashua teacher has been arrested after police said he sent nude photos of himself to several students.
On Wednesday, Nashua police arrested Bruce Lanctot, 40, of Stark St. in Nashua.
Police said they were given information by DCYF that alleged Lanctot had been contacting a student through the social media app Grindr. Investigators said they found Lanctot, who has worked at the school for 15 years, had been in contact with 'several' students over the course of several months. Lanctot sent the male students nude photos of himself, solicited photos of the juveniles and asked to meet up for sexual encounters.
Police obtained an arrest warrant for Lanctot, and he turned himself in to police.
"These types of reports are concerning, even more so when it's a teacher," said Nashua Police Lt. Kerry Baxter.
School Superintendent Mark Conrad said Lanctot was placed on paid administrative leave as soon as police alerted the school to the investigation.
Conrad said the school's focus now is to ensure the safety of students and to keep parents informed.
"We have not had concerns about Mr. Lanctot. He's been viewed as a very good teacher over the years, so this is a complete surprise to us," Conrad said.
School officials notified parents and had a guidance counselor in each of Lanctot's classes Thursday.
It is unclear whether the contact was made on school grounds or with a school computer. Police said that is part of the ongoing investigation.
Lanctot is charged with certain use of computer services prohibited, a class B felony. He is also charged with an additional count of computer services prohibited, a class B felony; two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, class B felony; three counts of endangering the welfare of a child, class A misdemeanor; and one count of indecent exposure and lewdness, class A misdemeanor.
Each Class B Felony is punishable by up to seven years in prison. Each class A misdemeanor is punishable by up to one year in the Hillsborough County House of Corrections.
Lanctot was released on $20,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on June 15.
