Nashua police arrest 2 after months-long sting for selling counterfeit drugs on Craigslist

NASHUA - Police said two men were arrested for selling fake cocaine and crystal methamphetamine in a Nashua police sting that took months of work.

Devon Hart and Paul Mangiafico have been arrested after police said they sold the fraudulent drugs through Craigslist.

Detectives in the Narcotics Intelligence Division got an anonymous tip in April that said people were selling cocaine, crack cocaine, MDMA and crystal meth on Craigslist under the euphemism "party favors."

After detectives found the postings on Craigslist in May, they arranged to buy cocaine and crystal meth from the dealer, who turned out to be Hart, at the park near Bridge Street and Warren Street in Nashua.

Hart met detectives at the park, and sold them a large amount of what appeared to be cocaine and crystal meth while children played nearby.

Hart had been using an alias at first, but provided his real first name to detectives through a text message.

The first name allowed detectives to find Hart in their databases, and arrested him on May 8 on charges of sale of a controlled drug.

Detectives examined the drugs, and discovered them to be household products disguised as street drugs. But selling a counterfeit drug is illegal and carries the same penalties as selling the drug itself in New Hampshire.

After more investigation, detectives believed Mangiafico was Hart's partner in crime.

Detectives say Mangiafico managed the online work while Hart did the leg work of meeting buyers in person around Nashua.

Mangiafico was charged with criminal liability of the conduct of another, and sale of a controlled drug. He was arrested on June 2, and police said they found marijuana on Mangiafico, and added that to the charges.
