Nashua off-duty police officer dead, foul play not suspected

PELHAM - A 23-year-old Nashua police officer has died.

Wednesday night emergency officials were called to a home on Sherburne Road. Upon arrival they found the police officer suffering from a head wound. The officer, who has been with the Nashua Police Department for two and a half years, was rushed to the hospital where he later died.

An investigation is ongoing but according to a release by the Attorney General's office the death is not suspicious, it appears to be self-inflicted and accidental. No firearm was involved.

An autopsy is scheduled for today to determine the cause of his death.

The public is being asked to avoid the area on Sherburne Road.
