Nashua, NH, police respond to report of suspicious package at BAE Systems


NASHUA - Police were called to BAE Systems at 65 Spit Brook Road shortly after 12:30 p.m. Monday for a report of a suspicious package.

The department's bomb squad responded to the scene and determined that there was no explosive hazard.

Police were on the scene for about 31/2 hours and employees in the area were temporarily evacuated. Police cleared the scene around 4 p.m.

Police are unsure of where the package came from and detectives are now investigating the incident.

BAE Systems released a statement on the incident.

"At BAE SYSTEM, the health and well-being of our employees is always a primary concern. ... We temporarily evacuated the immediate area," sporkeswoman Shannon Bettencourt said. It was determined that the package was no threat and operations have returned to normal."

There are 13,000 employees at the facility. The package was discovered in the North Wing B portion of the building.
