Nashua fire kills one, sends another to hospital
NASHUA - The Nashua Fire Department said a man is dead and a woman was hospitalized following a fire Monday morning.
Crews were called to the home on Waltham Drive just before 2 a.m. after receiving a report from a life alert alarm.
Arriving firefighters spotted smoke coming from the residence and then discovered flames in the rear kitchen.
Firefighters found a deceased male in the kitchen. A non-ambulatory female was found in a rear bedroom. She was treated for smoke inhalation and then hospitalized.
Neighbors say they only heard that the female victim was taken to the hospital but has since been released.
"I heard she's doing alright now. I can't believe something on the stove caused this much destruction." said Edmund Briand who has lived in the neighborhood for thirty years.
The names of the victims were not released.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
