Nashua barber shop re-opens one month after massive fire
NASHUA- It's been a difficult month for everyone who lived and worked at 64-66 West Hollis Street in Nashua. Both buildings were destroyed by a massive fire on June 8. Now, about a month later the La Fama Barber Shop has found it's new home, right next door to their destroyed building.
All of the barbers had to buy new gear and temporarily worked out of their other location on Amherst Street. Now they’re back on West Hollis. Thanks to the landlord they’re able to split an area with another business.
“That is good that she give us the hand to help us out,” said co-owner Jose Almonte.
Location is everything for the family-owned shop. They’ve been a staple in their neighborhood for 13 years.
Employees and loyal customers hope the neighborhood will soon be buzzing about their return.
“50 percent of the people that used to come, they don’t know that we re-opened,” Almonte said.
Luckily the barber shop has insurance, which helped to buy some of the equipment.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
