Mysterious 4-foot long rocket dropped off with firearms dealer in Pelham

PELHAM - Police contacted the Nashua bomb squad for help after after an unknown person dropped off a 4-foot-long steel rocket with a local firearms dealer.

Police say they were contacted by Hammer Firearms on Bridge Street on Thursday around 6:10 p.m. to investigate an unusual item that had been dropped off at the store by someone who said it had been found in an unidentified house where renovations were underway. Police say the item was a steel rocket with a diameter of approximately 4 inches.

Store employees took the item into the store and then contacted police fearing that the rocket might contain an explosive charge.

Members of the Nashua Bomb Squad responded and examined the rocket. It was x-rayed and deemed to be inert and safe for transport. It is believed to be of unknown military origin and was taken from the scene by members of the bomb squad for further follow up.
