Movie about Market Basket walkout to premiere next month

The Associated Press

BOSTON - Coming soon to a theater near you: Market Basket, the movie.

"We the People: The Market Basket Effect" hits select theaters, including theaters in Derry and Claremont, on April 14. The distributor, FilmBuff, says it will be released on-demand the following week.

The documentary chronicles the feud within the family that owns and operates the Market Basket grocery chain and an ensuing walkout by employees loyal to ousted company president Arthur T. Demoulas.

The standoff — one of the most remarkable work stoppages in U.S. labor history — ended with Demoulas' reinstatement as CEO.

Market Basket employees had walked off the job not for better pay or benefits, but solely because they wanted their boss back.

New Hampshire-based producer Nick Buzzell says he was "blown away" by the walkout.
