Motorcyclist arrested after police tail him from Gilford to Laconia
LACONIA - Police arrested a Laconia motorcyclist on multiple charges after he refused to stop for an officer in Gilford and continued through Laconia with the officer on his tail before wiping out on Route 107.
Donald Marcotte, 34, was charged with reckless driving, disobeying an officer and resisting arrest on Saturday. Laconia police say he was seen by a Gilford officer traveling west on the Route 3 bypass at high speed but refused to stop for the officer.
Police say Marcotte continued into Laconia, taking an exit ramp from the bypass onto Route 107 heading south. The Gilford officer shut off his emergency lights when he entered Laconia but continued to follow the motorcycle. Marcotte lost control of the motorcycle just south of Morin Road and fell onto his side. Marcotte was taken to the Lakes Regional General Hospital with minor injuries and later released and arrested. Police in Laconia, Gilford and Belmont responded to the incident.
Marcotte is scheduled to be arraigned at the Laconia District Court on June 18.
