Mother pleads guilty to pushing 8-year-old daughter under water as punishment

BRENTWOOD - A mother of four was sentenced to a year of home confinement after pleading guilty to pushing her daughter under water out of rage.

Candice Griffith, 32, of Newmarket, admitted to pushing her 8-year-old daughter, fully clothed, under water in the bath tub as a form of punishment. Griffith apologized to her daughters and the court after the arrest.

Along with losing custody of her children, Griffith was charged with endangering the welfare of child, a misdemeanor, according to the Union Leader. She also is required to receive mental health counseling and take a parenting class.
