Mother of children rescued from 'hellhole' apartment in Manchester arrested; faces felony
MANCHESTER — The mother of the children who were taken away from their father's apartment after being found covered in feces and living in a "hellhole" apartment was arrested.
Samantha Grenier was arrested Wednesday and charged with two counts endangering the welfare of a child and one count felony criminal restraint.
Police said they found two children "in extremely unsanitary and unsafe conditions" in an apartment with their father James Grenier.
She is currently being held at the Hillsborough County House of Corrections. Her husband posted bail on Tuesday.
The Greniers' 4-year-old son was in a harness attached to his bed, which was covered in feces and urine, according to police, and their 2-year-old daughter was in a crib, unclothed and also covered in feces.
Samantha Grenier said she does not live in the apartment and hoped to regain custody of her children on Monday.
