Morning storms with gusty winds knock out power to thousands in NH

NH1 Meteorologist

Thunderstorms with heavy rain and wind gusts of 40 to 60 mph moved through the Granite State this morning, knocking power out to thousands of customers.

The drought-stressed trees in southern and eastern New Hampshire are more vulnerable, which may have played a role in the number of areas affected.

As of 11:15 a.m., approximately 30,000 customers were without power in New Hampshire, mostly served by Eversource or New Hampshire Electric Co-op.

Latest outage numbers:
Eversource NH | Unitil | Liberty Utilities | NH Electric Co-op

This afternoon, the sky will clear with sunshine, but wind gusts to 35 mph are possible. As a result, a few additional, isolated power outages are possible.
