More than 100 people attend vigil for Derry teen who died in NJ crash

DERRY — It was an emotionally moving tribute Friday night, as more than 100 of Jesse Philbin's closest friends and family gathered for a candlelight vigil to share stories of love, friendship and family of the teen who died Tuesday.

Philbin was just 17 years old and a junior at Pinkerton Academy when he passed away from injuries Tuesday, following a single-car crash in New Jersey. His brother and three other family members, including two young children, were in the car and suffered injuries from the crash as well.

Jesse's sister, Megan Proulx attended the vigil and said he saved one of the toddler's lives during the crash, and now continues to save lives as an organ donor.

"He's already saved eight other lives, one little guy did all of that it's amazing," Proulx said.

Family said that the other crash victims remain in the hospital Friday, but are expected to recover.

There has been a GoFundMe Page set up to help Philbin's family with his funeral expenses. Visit the page here if you would like to make a donation.
