MONARCHS WIN! Starting the first season in ECHL off right

MANCHESTER- Thousands of fans decked out in black and purple came out to the Monarch’s first game in the East Coast Hockey League.

“I love having the Monarchs. I’ve got to admit this is a new team, but you’ve got to give them a chance and it’s ice hockey,” said fan Sharron Seger.

As the puck drops on this first season in the ECHL, fans are sizing up the talent.

“I’m just looking to see if the team is good all around,” said Daniel Shultz of Hudson.

“Yah, we want good players all around. Good offense, good defense, good goal-tending,” said Colby Bouchard of Hudson.

Last season the Monarchs won their first and last Calder Cup. The trophy was on display for fans to take pictures.

After being down 1-0 for much of the game, the Monarchs scored two quick goals in the third period to beat the Brampton Beast 2-1.

Now in the ECHL, the Monarch’s will be looking to win the Kelly Cup.
