Mom: 4-year-old daughter ate marijuana on top of Wendy's french fries
SPRINGFIELD, Ohio— A mother ordered her daughters some food at a Wendy's Tuesday evening, but got something much different.
Dezeray Risner, of Springfield, said she found marijuana in her french fries after her 4-year-old daughter told her mother the fries “tasted funny and were ‘yucky,’” according to a Huber Heights police report, wpxi reports.
Risner told reports that she had her daughter spit the food back out into her hand, and noticed there was weed in the chewed up pieces and "the wrap that it goes in or whatever,"
According to the report, Risner called the Wendy’s and the manager said nobody at the store had marijuana, but some employees did admit to occasionally smoking it outside of work.
Risner then went to the police department to report the incident.
A Huber Heights officer opened the bag and saw green leafy vegetation mixed with the fries and could smell the strong odor of marijuana from the fries, the report says.
Risner said, "I shouldn't have to check my child's food for drugs,"
Wendy’s has released a statement regarding an incident.
The statement reads in part:
“Please know all of our customers as well as the quality and integrity of our food are a top priority at Wendy’s and we are taking this very seriously. We are currently conducting a thorough internal investigation and the Human Resource and Legal departments are both fully cooperating with police in their investigation. We will get to the bottom of this issue as soon as possible. It is as important to us as it is to the community.”
Huber Heights police say it is unlikely that they will be able to prove the marijuana came from the Wendy’s, but the investigation is ongoing.
