Missing Manchester woman found hidden, dead in her own home

MANCHESTER - The body of a missing Manchester woman was discovered Monday inside the Calef Road home where she lived.

The home belonged to Sue Hutchinson who had been missing since Sept. 20. Hutchinson lived at the home with her roommate, Stephen Andrade.

“I feel bad for her,” said one neighbor who didn’t want to give her name. “She couldn’t or didn’t have time to get away, and I’m sorry it happened this way.”

Most neighbors are calling it ‘unreal’ that Hutchinson’s body was in the house this entire time.

“I’m not saying how the cops should do their jobs. But that many times to go through the house - why wouldn’t they bring in a dog that could sniff out a cadaver?” asked another neighbor who didn’t want to share her name.

“Last night I saw some lights on and on. But Saturday night it was pretty dark over there so I didn’t know what to think of that,” said a third neighbor.

Sunday evening Hutchinson’s family was at the home when they smelled a strong odor. They called Manchester police to see if they could come back and further investigate. Police had been to the home several times before - but this time, they discovered a small crawl space inside a closet behind a false wall. Inside? The body of an adult female.

NH1 News reached out to several members of the Hutchinson family who were not ready to speak on camera.

Police said, based on statements made by Stephen Andrade before his death last week, that he is responsible for Hutchinson’s death and for the body ending up in the Calef Road home.

Andrade’s body was found in a Motel 6 in Massachusetts. His cause of death appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The attorney general has scheduled an autopsy Tuesday to confirm the identity of the body found at the Calef Road home and to determine the cause of death.
