Missing Canadian hikers found on other side of Mount Percival a day later

NEW HAMPTON - A pair of missing hikers from Canada have been found safe after getting lost on the Mount Percival Trail.

Authorities were alerted on Monday night that 68-year-old Lise Dessaint and 64-year-old Lorne Russell, both of Ontario, Canada, were hiking on the Mount Percival Trail in the Holderness and Campton area and went missing.

The Holderness Police Department located the hikers' vehicle at the Mount Percival Trailhead off Route 113, leading to other officials to to respond to the trailhead.

Early Tuesday morning, officials located the missing hikers off of Sandwich Notch Road in Campton.

The hikers were transported out of the woods to be evaluated and treated for hypothermic conditions.

The hikers explained that they had lost the trail as they were going down Mount Percival and don't know how they ended up on the opposite side of the mountain.
