LONDON (AP) "Miss Saigon" and Shakespeare have triumphed at the WhatsOnStage awards celebrating London's West End theater.
"Miss Saigon" won nine trophies at the awards, whose winners are decided by public vote. It was named best musical and best West End show, and took acting honors for stars Eva Noblezada and Jon Jon Briones.
Producer Cameron Mackintosh, who brought the show back to London after an absence of more than a decade, said: "I've always said the public knows best."
A Donmar Warehouse production of Shakespeare's bloody tragedy "Coriolanus" starring Tom Hiddleston took three prizes at Sunday's awards, including best revival of a play.
"Doctor Who" and "Broadchurch" star David Tennant was named best actor in a play for the Royal Shakespeare Company's "Richard II."
