Milton lowers tax rate by 0.7 percent

MILTON — The tax rate in Milton has seen a decrease of about 0.7 percent.

Town Administrator Heather Thibodeau announced Milton’s new tax rate is $28.40 per $1,000 assessed property value, compared to $28.60 the previous year, Fosters reported.

The town portion of the tax rate has decreased by about 5.6 percent - from $8.47 per $1,000 assessed property value to $7.99. The local school, state education, and county tax portions all saw a slight increase.

The local school portion of the tax rate went from $14.83 per $1,000 assessed property value to $15.09. The state education portion of the tax rate went from $2.39 per $1,000 assessed property value to $2.40.

The county tax portion went from $2.91 per $1,000 assessed property value to $2.92.
