Merrimack, NH, group petitions ZBA to stop gun business
MERRIMACK - Neighbors and concerned residents are heading to a Zoning Board of Adjustment meeting tonight - to discuss whether the town had the rights to approve a gun shop in a home.
Opponents say the Blair Road home is in a residential neighborhood and there's safety concerns.
But the community development director in Merrimack told NH1 News this type of business is under tight restrictions, and it's not uncommon.
The town says if the business gets final approval there are several safety conditions the gunsmith must follow, including using a security system and a gun safe.
There have been four other home gun shops approved in Merrimack dating back to 1995.
Tonight's meeting is at 7 at Merrimack Town Hall.
