Merrimack man runs from police as they try and serve him with warrant for beating
MERRIMACK - A Merrimack man is under arrest for throwing a beer can at a victim's face, knocking him down, and kicking the victim in the stomach and ribs.
Police said officers went to serve a warrant for charges related to the beating to Thomas Leclaire, 18, of Merrimack, Wednesday and he took off running. Police chased him into the woods behind his house and arrested him. He is charged with four counts of simple assault and resisting arrest.
Police said the alleged beating took place May 9 at a home on Dalton Court. Police said Leclaire and a juvenile arrived at the victim's home, grabbed the victim by the shirt, and pushed the victim to the juvenile. While the victim was being assaulted by the juvenile, Leclaire allegedly threw a beer can in the victim's face and the victim fell to the ground. Once the victim was down, police allege Leclaire kicked the victim in the stomach and rib area.
Leclaire was released on bail and will be in court June 3.
