Merrimack man accused of shooting, killing wife of 44 years expected to take deal

The Associated Press

NASHUA (AP) — A Merrimack man accused of killing his wife of 44 years is expected to plead guilty under a deal with prosecutors.

The Nashua Telegraph reports that defense attorney Justin Shepherd plans to file the plea agreement next Tuesday in the case of Joseph Lawrence.

Under the agreement, the 63-year-old mechanic would plead guilty to a count of reckless second-degree murder in the April 2015 shooting death of 61-year-old Darlene Lawrence.

Prosecutors and defense lawyers will suggest minimum and maximum sentencing parameters. The judge will then set the exact sentence.

Shepherd says he and Lawrence look forward to the April 27 sentencing in Nashua to present their side.
