Merrimack gas station clerk injured after trying to stop robbery


MERRIMACK - Police are looking for a suspect in an attempted robbery who got into a fight with a gas station clerk Wednesday night.

Police responded to the robbery at the Gulf station at 1 Continental Blvd. just before 11 p.m. Officers say that a man or woman had entered the store wearing a mask and hooded sweatshirt and brandished a weapon, demanding that the clerk open the cash register. Police did not identify the weapon involved.

According to police, the clerk refused to hand over any money and a fight ensued. The suspect fled but was chased out by the clerk who tried to stop the suspect. The suspect assaulted the clerk with the weapon in the tussle then fled the scene in a small grey vehicle.

Police say the clerk did not suffer any life-threatening injuries, but the incident remains under investigation.
