Merrimack family left homeless by fire

MERRIMACK - A fire at 37 Great Stone Drive left a family homeless after the two-alarm blaze destroyed the house Friday night.

Firefighters say the two adults and three children got out safely and no one was injured. Their two cats also were saved.

The report came in sometime shortly before 8 p.m. and firefighters say there was a heavy fire on their arrival.

The N.H. Red Cross provided assistance to the family and says they have a place to stay. The Red Cross also is helping the family with food, clothing, medication and other essentials.
