Memorial service for Concord middle-schooler to be held tonight

CONCORD - A memorial service will be held tonight for 13-year-old Molly Banzhoff, a middle-schooler who never woke up after emergency surgery to remove a brain tumor.

The service will be at 6:30 p.m. at the Capitol Center for the Arts in Concord.

Molly was brought to the hospital after experiencing a migraine and vomiting on May 1. Doctors then discovered the brain tumor, and a day later, had surgery to remove it according to a "YouCaring" fundraiser page set up by Molly Rider - a longtime family friend of the family. She was taken off life support and died May 7.

The fund-raising has brought in almost $30,000 in donations to date. A fund to support the Banzhoff-Higgins family has also been set up at the Concord Dance Academy, where Molly was a student.
