Megan's Rustic Wood Headboard

It has been about 6 months since I last posted here at the Long Awaited Home. Life just got in the way, my old laptop died, and I just didn't feel like figuring out my new laptop. We have had lots of changes in our family. The first big change is our daughter Megan joined the US Air Force. I will post more about that later, but this post is about the headboard that she and her dad made together before she left. It is just a quick post to get my blogging feet wet again. One of the reasons I have some time to blog again (and figure out this silly Chromebook) is that I was hit by a car almost 2 weeks ago and I have some serious injuries. I'm recovering, and have felt much better the last 2 or 3 days, but more on that later too.

Megan has a loft above our two car garage in what was once an old barn. She loves to decorate, and has her own ideas and style. She wanted to make a rustic headboard for the little nook where her bed resides.

Here is what the space looked like before, cute little Husky included.

They started with some slats on the wall, then added some rustic, unfinished boards.

Megan was going to age the wood, but then she really liked how the new wood looked, so she decided to live with it for a while until she is sure.

I really like it like this too.

Such a cozy space.

I can't wait until she is home again!
