Master sand sculptures at Hampton Beach vandalized

HAMPTON - Four sand sculptures built for the 16th annual Hampton Beach Master Sand Sculpting Competition were vandalized Friday.

Officials believe the vandalism took place sometime between 1:30 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. Faces were ripped off several of the sculptures that had been created for the competition and were available for public viewing through July 4.

The vandal went through a fence that surrounded the sculptures. Security officials say there was only one set of footprints in the restricted area. Hampton police are continuing to investigate.
