Mass. man arrested at Hampton Beach for launching fireworks while fleeing police


HAMPTON – A 22-year-old Massachusetts man was arrested for firing off fireworks at a crowd and an officer as he was fleeing police at Hampton Beach Sunday.

Officers working the beach on ATV's saw Henry Yanes, 22, of East Boston launching fireworks on the beach. As police approached, Yanes began firing off fireworks in different directions with a 184-shot Roman candle. Yanes took off running with the firework still firing and one of the officers on the ATV was struck, but did not sustain any injuries. Yanes was caught after the brief chase.

Yanes was charged with reckless conduct, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and display of fireworks. He was released on bail and will be arraigned Aug. 23.
