Mass. man arrested after multiple bombs found in Tyngsboro

TYNGSBORO, Mass. - Early Saturday morning, Danny M. Kelly, 61, of Chelmsford, Mass., was arrested by the FBI in connection with suspicious devices found in Tyngsboro.

This comes after the Tyngsboro Fire Department responded to a brush fire on Locust Avenue Wednesday. Crews that responded to the scene noticed items that didn’t appear to be part of the electrical transmission system at the site and alerted National Grid. National Grid assessed the situation and alerted law enforcement.

Massachusetts State Police and FBI Special Agent Bomb technicians responded and identified multiple incendiary devices similar in structure to pipe bombs in the area. The devices were rendered safe.

Massachusetts State Police, Chelmsford Police Department, Tyngsboro Police Department and Army National Guard Civil Support Team assisted with the arrest. Tyngsboro police and fire departments, Massachusetts Department of Fire Services and ATF are also assisting the FBI, which is leading the investigation.
