'March of Dimes' walk in Manchester this Sunday
CONCORD — Each year in the united states, more than half a million babies are born too soon. There are 277 of them here in New Hampshire. The birth of a premature baby means the cost of intensive care.
One group dedicated to helping those families is the 'March of Dimes' and this Sunday in Manchester, they are holding one of their largest fundraisers.
Jake Costa was born at Elliot Hospital in Manchester at just 24 weeks and spent 115 days in the NICU. His parents say the support from the march of dimes was the difference maker getting through a scary and uncertain time. His family is walking on the team-Jake's Journey.
"His personality today is why he won the battle when he was born," said Jessica Costa, Jake's mother. "He was a fighter from the start and it was obvious just watching in the hospital but it just shows so much more today."
