Manchester woman passed out at the wheel, police find heroin, cocaine
MANCHESTER - A Manchester woman has been charged with heroin and cocaine possession after police found her sleeping in a car outside the Gulf Express on Main Street early Thursday morning.
Police say they responded to a report that the woman had been parked at the gas pumps for two hours. An officer woke her and described her as "groggy" and as having a difficult time answering questions. He asked for her driver's license and when she reached in her purse, he says he noticed a needle and a small tin.
A second officer arrived on the scene and the two men checked the purse, finding six small pieces of folded paper in the tin, consistent with drug packaging. Police say heroin was found inside of two wrappings and cocaine was inside the other four pieces of paper. Officers say they also discovered a crack pipe on the passenger seat of the car.
Michelle Guthrie, 31, was arrested and charged with three counts of possession of a controlled drug and falsifying physical evidence. At the time of her arrest, a search revealed a second tin in her shirt that contained 24 different prescription pills.
Guthrie was scheduled to appear in the 9th Circuit Court-Manchester on Thursday.
