Manchester to decide on funding for extra help in schools

MANCHESTER - A meeting is scheduled in Manchester to discuss a contract for AmeriCorps workers that serve several Queen City elementary schools as supplemental staff members.

The city's Board of School Committee will gather to further discuss details of a contract that for a growing operation in the city's school system.

The board voted in September to use $200,000 in grant money for the service organization City Year to administer the program. Some board members at the mid September meeting showed concerned that the program has grown and may need approval of the school board to expand, according to the Union Leader.

The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the City Hall Aldermanic Chambers.
