Manchester police tackle, arrest man who allegedly drew a gun from his waistband

MANCHESTER - A man who allegedly tried to pull a gun from his waistband was tackled by police who'd been called to the area of Conant and Barr streets for a report of suspicious activity Thursday night.

Police say Darian Tyson, 28, had a warrant out for his arrest in Massachusetts for a probation violation. Police who responded to the Conant and Barr street area say they saw him walking in the roadway. When an officer went to speak with him, Tyson allegedly reached for a gun in his waistband and was tackled by the officer. Police say after a brief struggle, they were able to get control of Tyson. They subsequently discovered the gun was loaded with two 30-round magazines.

Tyson was charged with criminal threatening, resisting arrest and being a convicted felon in possession of a dangerous weapon. he was also charged as a fugitive from justice. Tyson was held at the Valley Street jail on $1,500 cash or surety bail.
