Manchester police connect man with bank robbery after busting him for stealing sweaters

MANCHESTER - A Manchester man was charged with robbing a bank after police said they had enough evidence to connect him to the crime after he was arrested for stealing two Polo sweaters from a Macy's.

Gerard Dionne, 45 of Manchester, was arrested Monday as officers observed him leaving the store with two sweaters he allegedly did not pay for.

When detectives spoke to Dionne they gathered enough evidence to charge him with the robbery of the Manchester Triangle Credit Union that was robbed Nov. 7 by a suspect with a handgun.

Dionne was arraigned Monday on both robbery charges.
