Manchester police catch suspect in early morning armed robbery
MANCHESTER - Police have a suspect in custody after a brief chase on foot following an armed robbery at a gas station on Massabesic Street on Sunday morning.
Police say they arrived at the Hess Station at 805 Massabesic St. for a reported robbery around 8:30 a.m. A witness reported seeing the suspect heading west on Hayward Street in the area of Porter Street.
The man, later identified as Mangok Mashut, 24, fled when police approached and police say he tried to throw a knife he was carrying onto the roof of a nearby residence. Officers recovered the knife after the syspect was apprehended, along with a pack of cigarettes he allegedly stole during the robbery.
Mangok Mashut, 24, was charged with armed robbery, resisting arrest and falsifying physical evidence. Police say he also had a warrant out for his arrest for violation of a protective order.
