Manchester police arrest suspect in shooting of Belmont Street man

MANCHESTER - Police have a suspect in the shooting of a Belmont Street man on Thursday and took him into custody on Friday afternoon.

Hezekiah "Jack" Mendoza, 30, of Manchester, is expected to be charged with first-degree assault. Police had a warrant for his arrest and were looking for him during the day.

Jamie Leblanc, 34, of Manchester was shot in the leg on Thursday afternoon. He said he'd been shot while at his apartment on Belmont Street. He was at an apartment at Prescott Street when police were contacted.

Leblanc was taken to Elliott Hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injuries, police said.
