Manchester police arrest man who took headphones and iPhone from another man on the street

MANCHESTER - A man who allegedly asked for money and then ran off with another man's headphones outside of the Red Arrow diner has been charged with resisting arrest, criminal mischief and violating bail.

Police say an officer was flagged down near the diner on Wednesday for a reported theft.

The victim, 19-year-old Noah Vincent, said he'd been approached by a man asking for money and when he refused, the man grabbed his headphones and started listening to music with him from Vincent's iPhone. Vincent said he was uncomfortable but assumed the man would eventually leave. He did - but took the iPhone and headphones with him.

Police located a man who met the description several minutes later on Lake Avenue near Chestnut Street. He refused to answer questions and ran away. The officer caught up with him and grabbed his jacket. Both men fell to the ground, and it took several officers to subdue the suspect.

Ousman Trawalley, 23, of Alexandria, Va., was found in possession of the headphones and iPhone, which were returned to Vincent, who declined to press charges.

Trawalley, however, faces other charges in connection with the incident and was scheduled to appear in the 9th Circuit Court-Manchester on Thursday on those charges.
