Manchester police arrest man for attempted robbery at Rite-Aid


MANCHESTER - A Manchester man is being held for violating parole after police said he attempted to rob a city pharmacy.

Multiple officers repsonded to the report at the Rite-Aid on Elm Street at 9:50 a.m.

Police said Benjamin Bennet, 25, of Manchester, showed a note demanding "$500 cash or risk being shot."

Officers said at the scene they spotted a man, later identified as Bennet, fitting the description of the suspect running down Chestnut to Brook Street.

Bennet is charged with robbery, criminal mischief, resisting arrest and detention.

He is being held for 72 hours for probation and parole violations.
