Manchester police arrest 19-year-old accused of groping Central High students outside school

MANCHESTER - A 19-year-old is under arrest after police say he groped three female students near Central High School and tried to lure them back to his home on Tuesday morning.

The students were uninjured and immediately reported the incident to a school administrator.

Police increased patrols in the area as soon as they learned of the problem and school administrators sent an email to Central High parents to inform then of the incident.

School administrators also took steps to secure the school campus, though it did not involved a lockdown.

Police found a man in the area who met the description of the alleged perpetrator and identified him as Ahmed Abukar, 19, of Manchester. He was initially charged with two counts of possession of a controlled drug, in this case, marijuana and heroin. A subsequent investigation led to the three additional charges of sexual assault, criminal threatening and criminal trespass.

Manchester police and the school district now plan to increase patrols around the schools, police said.
