Manchester Police alerted to ATM skimming device by alert citizen

MANCHESTER - Police seized an ATM skimming device used by thieves to steal people's bank information and pin codes Sunday on McGregor Street.

A woman noticed three men in a white sedan pull up after she made a transaction and she watched as one of the men walked into the ATM and reported he was "tampering" with it. She called police and officers found the skimming device.

The device typically utilizes a pinhole camera which reads the user's pin number. It also contains batteries and a SIM card, which records the card numbers and account associated with the user.

Police contacted the bank and it is unknown if anyone was adversely affected by the scam.
