Manchester police: 9 grams of heroin confiscated from car after tip resulting from gunshots

MANCHESTER - A tip into the whereabouts of potential shooting suspects led to the arrest of a Massachusetts man Friday night.

Police officers said they pulled over a vehicle on Central and Pine streets because the driver and passenger were wearing similar hats to those described by witnesses who believe they saw a brown Chevrolet Prizm pulling away from the sound of gunshots on Friday.

Police reports describe the occupants of the car as making "furtive motions" while officers approached.

Police said they found 9 grams of heroin in the car.

The driver was processed under a false name and birthday before one of the officers confirmed the driver as Esaw Santana, 27, of Lowell, Mass.

Santana was scheduled to appear in the 9th Circuit Court Manchester on Monday.
