Manchester mother whose baby died arrested on charges of child endangerment

MANCHESTER - The mother of a 3-week-old baby who died in October was arrested Thursday on two counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Hillsborough County Attorney Dennis Horgan said Stephanie Camelo faces charges in connection with both the 3-week-old girl and an 8-year-old daughter.

The charges are not connected to the baby's death, he said.

The infant was found dead inside a bedroom in her mother's apartment last fall. At the time, an autopsy and toxicology tests were inconclusive, and the Attorney General's office said they were unable to determine whether the death was criminal in nature. Horgan said he is not expecting any additional charges to be filed relating to the baby's death.

Camelo was held on $1,000 cash or surety bail, and Horgan was not sure if she had posted bail on Thursday night. She is scheduled to be arraigned on Friday morning.
