Manchester mom charged with driving high on heroin with child in car


MANCHESTER - A woman was high on heroin when she drove with her 11-year-old in the car to check herself into a hospital, police said.

Susan Sparks, 46, of Manchester, is charged with endangering the welfare of a child, aggravated driving while intoxicated, and two electronic bench warrants.

According to police, Sparks checked herself into Elliot-River's Edge at 3:30 p.m. due to a medical issue. She grew agitated and combative and was transported to the main hospital a short time later, police said. She was charged with an aggravated driving while intoxicated offense because she drove her 11-year-old in the car.

She was released on $1,000 personal recognizance and is scheduled to appear in the 9th Circuit Court-Manchester on April 22, 2016.
