Manchester men arrested after allegedly using heroin with child in car

MANCHESTER - Police say they have arrested two men for allegedly using heroin a child was in their car Thursday night.

Police surveillance of a residence at 27 Prospect St. in Manchester led to the arrests of Christopher Cortez, 31, and Zachary Person, 32, both of Manchester.

According to Lieutenant Brian O'Keefe, officers saw Cortez entered and exited the building during what appeared to be a drug deal.

Police then followed the car to a Rite Aid parking lot where they said Cortez appeared to be using drugs while Person was inside the store.

When Person returned the police said he also appeared to be using drugs.

O'Keefe says police then approached the car and found .4 grams of heroin. Cortez is charged with heroin possession. Person was also charged with heroin possession and falsifying physical evidence.

An unidentifed female in the back seat was released from the scene, and an 18-month old was placed in the care of a family member.

Cortex and Person appeared in the 9th Circuit Court-Manchester earlier today.
